Chase Miller Signs in Sweden with Bodens BK
Bodens BK have picked up their fifth AX representative in two years after acquiring Chase Miller . Director of football Christian Samuelsson is a regular at AX’s showcases and combines and was impressed by what he saw from the promising full-back.
After a week-long trial in north Sweden, Miller has signed his first professional contract with the Swedish Second Division club.
“It’s been a year since I’ve graduated college and the process of becoming a professional player is tough,” Miller told AX. “I am thankful for Bodens and AX giving me this opportunity.”
Miller first attended the San Diego combine in the summer of 2014, and his form in California resulted in an invite by AX to the Sweden and Finland tour. It was in Scandinavia that he caught the eye of Samuelsson.
Miller was out of match practice before his trial with Bodens, so AX invited him along to the 2015 Ireland showcase tour, where he faced Europa League side Shamrock Rovers . With games against top opposition under his belt, he was able to impress at the Boden Arena club.
The 22 year-old was encouraged to contact AX due to the recommendation of his former teammate at George Mason University, Taylor Morgan . Morgan was released by Toronto FC in his rookie MLS season, but after an AX showcase he signed terms with Ostersunds FK of the Swedish Superettan. His career continues to progress as he has now been loaned out to Falkirk where he battles it out against the likes of Rangers and Hearts in the Scottish Championship.
Miller will now line up alongside fellow AX players Gino Mauro and Eddy Prugh as Bodens BK look to improve on the 8th placed finish of last term.
